A new take on a cape

Fashion is an important part of modern world. It is connected to history, climate, social life, culture and reflects those connections in shapes, materials and colours. Fashion is a language for people all over the world in which they can express their thoughts, views and beliefs. My collection: “Envelope – a new take on a cape” takes inspiration from every mentioned subjects. My goal was to transform the original form of the cape into an attractive outer covering while keeping its function to envelop the body. The designs were created out of soft, warm wool. Cozy blankets create sense of protection and warmth. World needs care and regeneration and my collection meets those needs. Old blankets were used to create the outfits, the blankets’ original patterns remained but the colours were deliberately modified.. Deriving from current fashion needs, the chosen material results from the search for new ways to use already existing materials and then processing them into fashion articles. The connecting points are an integral part – they merge with the wool and also underline the geometry of the forms inspired by the paintings of Esther Stewart Every great action has a beginning in local structures. The collection draws from various environments – countryside, city and suburbs. Essentials from those locations help to provide apparel full of peace, comfort and raciness. I want to create garment which would connect look from fashion world and feel from hearth.
